New lump

Hi, about 12 months ago I found my first lump, this was diagnosed to be breast cancer in Feb 2020. I had breast surgery and radiotherapy and now take Tamoxifen. Yesterday I found a new lump just above my scar. I've been having shoulder, top of arm and shoulder blade pain for a few weeks which I feel is getting worse. I can't do anything till tomorrow with it being a bank holiday and as we all know the unknown waiting is the worse. I've got it into my head that it's breast cancer again as it feels just the same.

  • I'm very sorry about the lump you've found SSkelton. It's understandable why your train of thought would be along these lines but if you can, try not to jump to any conclusions until you know more. I know that's always easier said than done but hopefully this isn't what you're thinking.

I hope you've managed to make an appointment with your GP since making this post and you get to discuss this with them soon. If you'd like to find out how to get the most out of your appointment at this time, just click here.

    Hi Sskeleton,

I am so sorry that you have all this worry again. I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. Like you, I found a new lump shortly after surgery, but this turned out to be scar tissue. Unfortunately, six months later I found another lump and this time I wasn't so lucky.

Phone your breast care nurse first thing tomorrow morning and explain your symptoms. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Keeping my fingers crossed!

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx
