Hello from Newcastle Under Lyme

Hi all. I'm based in Newcastle Under Lyme in Staffordshire. In May 2018 with no usual symptoms apart from constipation over 4 days the 111 service told me to get to hospital straight away. Later the same day I had my large bowel and stage 2 tumor removed. MRI scan showed the cancer hadn't spread. In December 2018 after a routine CT scan and subsequent PET scan was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the peritoneum. 2vyears of chemo and still going.

I run a FB group trying to raise awareness of peritoneal cancer, campaigning for better information and treatment.

Oh, and by the way, I play the ukulele - please don't hate me!

  • Hello Barry and welcome to the forum.

I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but it is good to hear that you're doing so well. Being given a stage 4 diagnosis can be devastating and I'm sure that many people will take comfort from hearing your story.

And don't worry - we love a bit of ukulele too! I somewhat unsuccessfully tried to teach myself to play during the first lockdown earlier this year. I'd describe it as a work in progress

    Best wishes,
