I'm 58 and I was diagnosed in October 2020 with Liver Cancer and Peritoneal Disease which they think started in Small Bowel. I have been told cancer is too widespread in Liver and Abdomen Cavity for a cure so I am on palitive chemotherapy at the moment. I visit hospital every three weeks to have Oxaliplatin given to me intravenously. Then I take Capecitabine tablets at home twice a day for 2 weeks, then I have a week off and then repeat the cycle again. I'm on my second cycle so far. I take four x 500mg Capecitabine tablets at breakfast and another four x 500mg tablets at evening meal. Luckily I've not had too bad side effects yet.
I was told if I had no treatment I would not survive more than 3 months, with treatment I might survive 1 year possibly a bit longer. Bit of a shock, but I'm staying positive and just focusing on living day to day. I've been signed off work sick so a lot of stress has now disappeared as I'm able to relax at home and have no work worries at the moment.
I've heard that you can't eat Gratefruits or Oranges on these tablets but as far as I know there are no other foods or drinks which I should avoid. I've also heard I should limit caffeine. I don't drink coffee but I do like Diet Coke, but I'm trying to limit Diet Coke a bit.
