Frenchie , I caught you name from another post/ thread I am active on.

There are a few 'inoperables' about on here. One guy Davek, I think- who is about 7 years 'inoperable'

In terms of symptoms improving, I can vouch for the improvement in swallow after just 1 load of chemo, my husband improved even more after the 2 nd cycle, to the point where he was back on the steak and chips, curry ,With no gagging. 

Frenchie- I saw your response to me on the other threat, that your husbands only symptoms were hiccups! that is a tough call to take. Mind you, my husband only started slight gagging all of a sudden at only one meal a day and only with certain foods- we expected the endoscopy to find maybe GORD, maybe an ulcer, but certainly not this.

Anyhow... what can we do other than crack on. Best wishes H

Hi hope your husband gets on ok with his treatment I wonder why his is 9 weeks and mine is 15 weeks.

also I’m having bowel cancer chemo which I find surprising. Mine has spread to Lund and chest the same . I was due to be having the surgery 5th jan till they looked at the pet scan .  Good luck 

Hi it was good seeing your message on here today hope it’s helped a few of us out .i never new anyone could live for 7 years without the surgery. My consultant woukd not give me any information on times.

i can eat ok after the last chemo and radiotherapy but now they have found it’s spread it’s worried me to bits.

Sorry to barge in but I have also been wondering why there are different durations of chemotherapeutic treatments. You mentioned Davek who has been living for 7 years with inoperable oesophageal cancer and is considered cured now, but from what I remember he had just had 4 cycles of chemo and that's it. I remember him mentioning that 4 cycles are probably better than 6 or 8 as it doesn't completely damage one's immune system. 
My mother had 6 cycles of Cisplatin and Capecitabine then did radiotherapy for 5 weeks, but unfortunately her lung mets came back and she is back on chemo now. 
Her oncologist wants to do 8 cycles which is 24 weeks.

Thank you Steve, mum is doing ok. Hope you are feeling alright too.  We are having a scan next week to see if this chemo protocol is working. I remember Davek mentioned somewhere that he was on EOC protocol and decided to have only 4 of those

My husband has just had his second round of intravenous chemotherapy and also added Trastuzumab as he tested positive for HER2. He is very very tired all the time and has slept pretty much ever since.
