Hi my names Laura
im 28years old and a mother to a 10 year old daughter.
I had a operation in July 2020 to remove a lump found under my temporary breast implant on my left side & my full right breast .
Due to restrictions with COVID I was told I wouldn't be given any reconstruction with the surgery and would be able to get it done in about a years time .
I was needing radiotherapy following surgery but the scans had shown the cancer had not spread from my chest area . They was unsure if I had cancer in my lymph nodes in my right side and I'd last had surgery to remove the cancer from my left breast and fully removed left sides lymph nodes . That was in 2016 when I had chemotherapy then surgery, radiotherapy and hormone therapy to get rid of it. It was started in aug 2015 . Surgery was in April 2016 radiotherapy aug 2016 then had hormone therapy since then up to the June 2020 .
They said they had removed the cancer but they had tested me for the breast cancer faulty family gene BRCA 1/2 which I was positive for . Also my mother and one sister was tested and told they carried it as well.
my mom had had breast cancer age 35 but told at the time it wasn't thought to be genetic.
I had a temporary implant in at the first surgery to help stretch my skin and also stop the radiotherapy having much damage to the skin .
It was due to be removed at a later date and also have the right breast removed in a preventative measure. Then have a implant inserted in both breasts at the same time.
I was getting the surgery arranged when I first descovered the lump under the implant and had a biopsy which said it was cancerous and the appointments started after of a Bone scan , CT scan and the surgery was due when the COVID situation started.
They then told me I would have my implant removed and the cancer then have a second surgery in the future for my right side.
Then I felt a lump in my right breast that was found to be cancer and I then was to have the right breast removed and then radiotherapy.
I had to wait for the surgery but had it this July and told they had removed the cancer .
I had to get a stitch removed and told them I had a lump in my neck and I didn't want to get a biopsy in that area so they did a PET scan that showed the cancer had spread into my chest area .
They told me in September I needed chemotherapy and I had it in my chest wall , the chest bone and a couple of ribs , top of my abdomen and the doctor said the cancer has exploded in surgery scattering it around all my chest and it's now stage 4 and Triple negative that will be a 2year average lifespan only with the treatment for it ASAP and if it has a good result
Is anyone else going through the cancer treatment for triple negative breast cancer. And it's at stage 4 ! Why didn't they tell me earlier and was the surgery first right if they knew it could exploded and spread ?
I don't know I'm just in a bad place and have not idea why I can't do anything for my full lifetime and instead have a time bomb that is only a average that could go off anytime before .
Please reply if you have been so kind to read me story.
