Mum with bowel cancer

My mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer over a year ago now and we were hopeful that treatment would work and one day she'd be back to her regular, happy self. Sadly yesterday we were told treatment is no longer working and there's nothing else they can do. I do not know what to do. I feel so sad and scared as she is my bestfriend. On top of that, with covid we are distancing from people to keep her safe so I can't even hug my friends during this time. I just wish none of it was real.

    Hi Lilly,  

    I am so sorry that treatment is no longer working for y our mom.  I had the same news myself on Monday.  What Chemo drug was your mom taking.  
    I was diagnosed June 2018.

    Oxaliplatin and FU5 are the drugs I was taking.  It was keeping lung tumors from growing, now have new tumors and others have grown.  As a result treatment stopped and going on another drug which will be my 3rd drug.

    Hi Gloria, I'm so sorry to hear that I wish you all the best. I think she also has been on three different chemo drugs now and has also had radiotherapy. I'm not too sure what the last one was but I will find out. Thank you so much for replying, it's nice to talk to people in these times.

    Hi Lilly,

    My third Drug is going to be Regorafenib.  It does not have good reviews sounds

    like last resort.

    I was told on Monday about different drug.  People don't stay on it long has horrid side effects.

    In the beginning Ongologist said has many treatment drugs does not sound that way now.  
     

    Did your mom's C travel to other parts.  Mine travelled to my lungs.  Maybe they have a trial for your mom.  

    I was told today about cancer studies the email is clinicaltrials.gov 

    i can understand how you feel I am in shock myself.  Was operated on Aug 2018 had lots of pain finally tolerable and off pain drugs.

    Yeah I can imagine it's not nice taking something that there is not much hope in. However I do hope it works out for you and the pain is not bad. There is a trial drug but sadly is not a cure but she may try it to extend things. Yes it spread to her liver, she was meant to have operation earlier this year but they then changed their minds.
