Health anxiety

I am 47 and have always suffered with ibs with constipation but for the last 4 months I have had looser stills, constant stomach pain and going on average 5/6 times a day, after I have been my pain is worse, my consultant says he is sure it's fine and has not even examined me but got me to do a fit test, I was not sure to see him until jan 18th but now results are back he has brought it forward to Monday, I have health anxiety and I have already told myself I have it and am terrified, I can't function until I have answers

    I'm sorry to hear that your IBS symptoms have been worse over the past few months. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about what may be responsible for this. 

    I think most of our members here on the forum will understand how difficult this time of waiting for appointments and results can be. It's natural to feel anxious and to second guess what news you may be given.

    Sometimes it can help to talk to someone and I'm wondering if you might find it beneficial to have a chat with one of our team of nurses ahead of your appointment on Monday. I'm sure they will be able to offer some advice and support. IF you'd like to talk to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.
