Eight weeks in...

Hi all,

I'm Grace from Dublin

Going through a bit of a worrying time at the moment as I have had two lymph nodes (cervical & supraclavicular) on the right side of my neck giving me trouble for the past eight weeks or so. This is in addition to fatigue, discomfort & bloating in my abdomen, nausea, back pain, shooting pain in my ears and tingling/numbness in my hands and feet. I have also recently discovered a rubbery lump in my groin.
I have had a couple of blood tests done which show elevated CRP and Ferritin levels but normal blood count. I was sent to A&E about a month ago as I was feeling very unwell but nothing came of the trip and I was sent home. I had an ultrasound done on my neck & thyroid last weekend as I have previously had a partial thyroidectomy in 2017 (left lobe) due to a large multinodular goitre. The ultrasound came back showing multiple modules (largest 3cm) on the right side of my thyroid and also enlarged supraclavicular lymph node that was concerning enough for my GP to refer me to a consultant ENT for which I am currently waiting on an appointment. I'm really hoping to get seen by ENT before Christmas as I am extremely worried and don't want to be in the dark over the holidays.
It seems that all other avenues have been exhausted at this stage and really the only thing left unchecked is the big C. I'm trying not to get too overwhelmed but this is all coming at a pretty crucial time as myself and my husband to be are currently TTC, and at 35 I don't have a lot of wiggle room to play with time wise.
if anyone has any experience with similar situation or advice I would really appreciate it as I am a ball of nerves at the moment!

  • I'm sorry for what you're going through at the moment Grace as it sounds very stressful, but fingers crossed you will get seen by an ENT consultant before Christmas and will be a step closer to some answers.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar situation will be along soon to offer their support and advice.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Steph,

    Many thanks for your reply.
I received a confirmation of my ENT referral and am waiting for them to give me an appointment.
I'm hopeful it will be before Christmas so I might get some kind of answer and a plan can be put in place.

I visited my hairdresser today and we both had a little cry over our worries. A problem shared.... and all that

    kind regards,

    Grace
