Back here again.

Hello I’ve been under the breast clinic for a year now and still no close to resolving my recurrent abscess cavity, I have just been told to go back in 6 months for the 3rd time. The nurse said it is my new normal and to expect it to increase and de crease in size as the sack and scar tissue is still in there. My last vist was on the 26th where it had returned at only a pea size, since then it has double led in size and tenderness. They seem reluctant to cut it out, why would that be? It is really affecting my work as I can’t lift without being in pain. Has anyone else experienced this. Apologies if I’ve not been very clear.

  • Hello Apple13

I'm so sorry to hear about this ongoing problem that you're dealing with. I can imagine that it's really impacted on you in lots of ways.

Have you been referred to see a wound specialist or tissue viability nurse? This may be something that you might want to ask your Consultant or the nurse about. If you're unhappy with the answers that you're being given then you might want to consider asking for a second opinion

If you'd like to have a chat with one of our nurses then please do give them a call. They may be able to offer some advice. You can call them on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope you get some answers soon and that things start to improve.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you for your reply. The abscess cavity is inside my actual boob, there is no visual of it from the outside so not sure where to go from there. I have just recieved another appointment for the 14th January after I said I wasn’t happy, hopefully they can suggest another option, I’d like for it to be cut out in all honesty. Where would I get a second opinion from? Should I go back to my gp?
