Diagnosed with breast cancer

Hi ,

So after a whirlwind couple of weeks, I went for my biopsy results today. I have to have a mri now and then will get a treatment plan. The ultrasound and mammogram show the lump as two different sizes hence the need for the mri.

I'm only 32 and its very overwhelming, I'd convinced myself in the waiting room there was no way it could be the big c. I dont know how to feel, thankfully its only primary but funnily enough this doest make me feel any better. :(

I'd love to chat to anyone going through the same thing hence why I'm here.

  • Hi Lesley

Your journey sounds so similar to mine

    Hope your well

    Michelle

  • Hi Michelle

Thank you for your message,  a bit of a journey eh, especially during these trying times when we are having to do so much of it on our own.

I hope your journey is going well and you can see the bright light at the end of the tunnel

  • Hi girls,

Sorry for the really late reply, I have been Ll over the place emotionally. But I wanted updates from you guys and wanted to update you all,

So I had my mri on Monday, I was told it was going to be loud but oh boy I think I underestimated how loud it would be i also found staying still for that long gives you uncontrollable twitches in your toes, lol . I'm back at the breast clinic on Monday so hopefully by then we should have some sort of plan in place. My husband can come with me on this appointment which i I feel relieved about. All my family know now and they are all very supportive

    So girls, cue the updates...

    Gina.

    Sending hugs x

  • Hi Gina

Sending loads of love and hugs to you and your family, I'm so pleased to hear that  your husband can be with you on Monday when you get your results.  It's so important to have a good support network around, be it slightly restricted due to covid.

I have my post op results on Thursday but unfortunately my husband can't attend.

I never had an MRI scan so don't know what you experienced,

Treat each appointment and whatever treatment may be needed as small steps to the end of the tunnel  where the light is shinning brightly.

I have met loads of wonderful people going through similar treatments on my journey and have taken strength and positivity from them.

Once again sending all my love .

    Lesleyanne  xx

  • Hi Lesleyanne,

I hope your post op results are good news, we could all so with some good news. I'm happy that you take strength in the people you have met. Us women are stronger than we know sometimes.

Keep me updated with your results if you don't mind of course and I wish you all the best.

My emotions sometimes get the better of me, I just have to remember to take some deep breaths and pull my big girl panties up.

    Sending big hugs

  • Hi Lesleyanne,

    Thank you!

So I have invasive ductal carcinoma grade 2 which has a lobular component. The mass is 42mm which means its going to have to be shrunk before its removed. Because of Christmas its the 8th of January before I can see the oncologist and talk about chemotherapy. So I'm going to try and enjoy Christmas as much as I can.

I just wanted to wish you luck with your appointment tomorrow. Sending big hugs

    Gina xx

  • Hi Gina

My initial diagnosis was invasive ductual  carcinoma,  I had

2 tumours,  the main one was 32mm and a smaller satellite one ,  they were 4mm apart.

I was told it was an aggressive cancer and fast growing, so I had chemo & targeted therapy upfront and then surgery.

So today I  received the best Christmas present ever, the surgeon told me that the cancers had been completely killed by the chemo and the surgery had concluded no further cells had been found in the removed tissue and none had been found in the lymph node.

The breast needs to heal, then in the new year I  will have radiotherapy and some more targeted therapy treatment as an extra safeguard measure.

So please keep your spirit up and remember there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Wishing you all the best on your journey

    Have a good Christmas

    Lots of hugs

  • Hi ,

just thought I’d jump on here and say hi.

I was diagnosed with grade 3 invasive ductal carcinoma 22nd dec. I’m 32.

Still in shock I think, no tears yet but I’m holding it in worried I may never stop lol.Ive got a CT on weds, and an MRI on sat, then we will know the stage etc.

The consultant thinks I will be having chemo first too but that will be confirmed after the MDT meeting on 5th jan. I just want to get moving now!

i hope you managed to have a nice Christmas. I’m about to support whenever you need it
