2ww chin lump ultrasound

So I have a small bean size lump under my chin only 1. None anywhere else!! I've been referred to the 2ww and going for a ultrasound tomorrow... I'm extremely worried as my mum had lymphoma and cervical and past away when I was young! I'm only 20 and my minds going crazy... can anyone give me some advice please.... I also have acne so I've been trying to tell my self maybe it's swollen because of my acne ...

UPDATE!
hey everyone... i had my ultrasound and it turned out to be my acne was the cause for my node to swell... I'm all good now and it's completely gone... hope this helps someone x

  • Hello Katie and welcome to the forum.

How did you get on with your ultrasound the other day? I hope it went well but I know this will be a rather anxious time until you get your results. Hopefully it won't be too long before they come back but I hope this information will help keep your nerves at bay whilst you wait.

Our members know how tough this time can be so I'm sure some of them will offer their support and advice to you soon as well.

    Fingers crossed for good results.

    Kind regards,

  • Hello!

your symptoms are exactly the same as mine! I'm just wondering how you got on?? My 2WW appointment is on Monday! I'm 25 aswell s very similar!!!

  • Hey Bethan, when I returned for the ultrasound there was still a slight lump, the doctor was moving the scanner thing all around my chin throat and then asked me to point it out. My lump would fluctuate in size.I pointed the lump out and he then said it's seems all pretty normal you have nothing to worry about. Couple weeks later I had a call from my consultant and they wanted me come in a discuss results... I opted for over the phone. They told me it was a swollen node and it will go back down in size but most likely stay slightly swollen. No further action would be necessary.  8 weeks later I still had the lump and it had got bigger I went back to my doctors and I asked for a different doctor. The doctor took one look at me and said you have severe acne. Which to be honest was a massive insecurity for me as I always had the nicest skin up to 19 years old and they gave me tablets and cream within 4 weeks my acne had gone and my swollen node under my chin did too. So basically the sub mental node under my chin swelled as I had developed severe acne and would fluctuate in size, when my acne got worse or when it went down. All it needed was my acne to go.

but I was extremely worried as my mum had lymphoma and past away when I was 3 so I ultimately assumed I had the same thing. All I will say is don't worry yourself and don't assume the worst...

i really hope this helps you....

    regards Dani.

  • Thank you so much for your reply, it really means a lot! Could I ask, did you get the results the same day as your 2WW appointment? My mum also passed away of cancer, when I was 18 so I'm freaking out aswell!!

    thank you so much!!

  • Hello no so if the ultrasound person is qualified enough to spot things he will tell you there and then if it's nothing to worry about. But normally 2 weeks later I got my phone call to say they have my results which scared me as I thought nothing was wrong.
if you would like to speak to me directly let me know I no it can be such a scary thing and I was so worried about it!! Don't worry yourself....
