dull ache.

Hello! I just joined in need of advice.

I am Louise, I'm 18 and for the past 2 years I have been experiencing painful aches in my legs during the afternoon/night. It happens quite regularly, I'd say around about 2-3 times a week. It feels like a deep pain, not particularly a muscle pain but more of a bone related pain. The best way I can describe it is the same feeling as growing pains, only much worse. The pain sometimes affects my movement, it gets so painful where I can't move at all, or I can hardly walk. I have no swelling or redness at all, it isn't tender when pressure is put. It seems so phantom like.

I'm a bit nervous to get in contact with my GP, as I haven't had much positive experiences with most of the staff. I just don't want it to be shoveled under the carpet, especially since it's been happening for so long and has been so consistent.

Any kind of advice would be greatly appreciated. I most likely will get in contact with my GP, just nervous!

  • Welcome to the forum l02sm although I'm sorry about the pain you've been experiencing in your legs. It sounds like it's been quite tough for you over the last couple of years.

I know you're a bit reluctant to get in touch with your GP, which is understandable given your past experiences, but as this has been going on a while and is worrying you do get in touch as they are the only ones who can help you figure out what is going on.

When you speak to the doctor, it can be difficult to remember everything you want to say and it can be difficult to remember everything they say, especially on the phone but I hope these tips we have on our website will help you get the most out of your appointment.

Fingers crossed everything will be o.k.

    All the best,
