Alectinib

Hello all, I'm on my third month of treatment of Alectinib, 600 mg morning and evening.

Things are going well and the lesions have reduced in size from 6 cms to around 3 cms. Fingers crossed for a continuation of this trend.

Has anyone noticed a side effect of breathlessness?

I wonder if in the future my dosage can be reduced to aleviate this symtom.

Your experiences would be interesting to hear.

Keep well.

  • Hello Arty-boy

It's great to hear that you've had a good response to treatment so far. As you say, fingers crossed for things to continue this way.

Breathlessness is a known common side effect of alectinib. I'd certainly suggest speaking to your team about how you're coping with this.

If you'd like to speak to one of our nurses for some advice and support you're welcome to call them on 0808 800 4040 (Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm).

    Best wishes,

  • Hi arty-boy

I'm 4 months in with alectinib and tolerating it nicely. I was told that I could get muscle aches and pains, diarrhea and or vomiting. Thankfully nothing.

Tumours have shrunk on average of 30% and now I'm just waiting for the latest ct scan results. I'm feeling positive but of course apprehensive.

I have a sticky trachea but I can tolerate that compared to the cough and pain I was in in September.

I've been told that 1200mg a day is the only dose regime.

Hope some of that info is useful.
