Peritoneal Stage 4 New Diagnosis

My mum has just been diagnosed with stage IV peritoneal cancer. The primary site of cancer is still unknown, but it has spread to her peritoneal. We havent been given a clear treatment path yet, but have been told it is not curable but treatable?

Anyone with any advice/experience with this cancer would be much appreciated! I feel numb with worry of a life without my precious Mum. She is 62yrs no previous cancer. I am 30.

thanks & best of luck to everyone on their journey.

  • Hello SK20

I'm sorry to hear that your Mum has just had this diagnosis. I'm sure that it's a really difficult time for you both and it's understandable that you're feeling worried about what all this means for you.

I presume that the Consultants are doing some more tests to see if they can find the primary before they decide which treatment will be best suited for your Mum. It's good to hear that there are treatment options available to her.

I'm unsure if we've any members who have had a secondary diagnosis of peritoneal cancer but hopefully if there are they will post to share their experiences with you.

You might find it helpful to contact our team of nurses to chat things through. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 and I'm sure they will be able to offer you some advice and support.

    Best wishes,
