Persistent high risk hpv and low grade dyskaryosis

I have just received my third in a row abnormal smear test result showing high risk hpv and low grade dyskaryosis. I am awaiting my third colposcopy. The previous two (2018 and 2019) have showed cin1.

I'm really worried about this and whether it means I would be classed as having persistent hpv and what risk levels this places me at.

At my previous colposcopys I just had biopsies no treatment. Can I insist on treatment. Should I request more radical treatment like a total hysterectomy if my body can't clear this virus or is this unnecessary at this stage? I'm 40 married and have 2 small children. My family is 100% completed.

i have left a message for colposcopy to call me back but just wondered if anyone else had any advice or been in a similar position and could offer advice on treatments.

  • Welcome to the forum Bluesky although I'm sorry to read what's troubling you.

I hope the colposcopy team get back to you soon but whilst you wait I just thought I'd give you our cancer nurses telephone number as they're very knowledgeable in this area and may be able to help so if you'd like to talk things through with them they're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will share their advice and experiences with you soon as well.

    Kind regards,
