Waiting on colposcopy appointment

Hello so basically I have had bleeding in between periods for 6 months. I had the depo injection in January then didn't go back in April because of COVID. I kept having bleeding in between periods from May and I ignored it but started worrying because it reallt wasn't normal. I then called the GP who told me I need to book for a smear which I had at the end of October and got my results last week. I have HPV and low grade dyskaryosis. I'm still having abnormal bleeding and constant cramps. Obviously worrying until I get my colposcopy. I also have 2 young daughters

  • Hi, I am sorry to hear that. Sounds very similar to me at the moment. I don't know if I am looking into it too much. Im 25 and have had the implant in Feb my bleeding stopped at the end of April. I had nothing up until the first week of September and have practically been bleeding since apart from the odd 1-3 days between 10-20 days of bleeding each time. I rang the doctors and had some bloods done they come back and they wanted them done again. After they come back my doctor wanted a face to face appointment which i didnt understand, thought they would just blame it on the implant and tell me take it out and explain on the phone with the current covid going on. But when i got there she told me my crp and esr tests wernt normal, my vitamins were low but everything else was fine. I was then asked if i would allow her to do a smer test for cervical cancer. I was shocked and let her do it. Once finished she then went on to explain it all and then said she would refer me to have some scans as well.. i got my appointment in the post within 2 days of my dr appointment for Friday 13th Nov. (What a day to pick) but after looking it up and my scans.. i have since realised its a colposcopy. Nhs site says should your smer results come back with HPV and show some abnormalities then thats when you would be referred for this. But im confused if this is the normal process i feel like has my dr seen something when inspecting me or is she more concerned than she was letting on for her to arrange this the same day without even knowing the results of the smer first. I have an 11 month old boy at the moment and cant sleep due to worrying so much. How was the Colposcopy? What should i expect when i go for my appointment? I hope my bleeding will stop for the day when i go as that would be horrible hope it comes back clear for you!

  • I haven't had my colposcopy yet which is not helping my anxiety. I probably wouldn't have been worried RE the HPV and abnormal cells as that's common apparently but with the bleeding in the mix too has just put me on edge.

  • I see, sorry must have read your post wrong. When is your appointment?

    And yes, I'm the same.
