Hello Steven and a warm welcome to our forum, 

I am so sorry to hear that your mum has been diagnosed with lung cancer. It must have been a real shock for you and your family and I can imagine the news hasn't really sunk in yet. You've come to the right place though to meet others who have been affected by lung cancer and who have also looked after a loved one after a lung cancer diagnosis. Hopefully our members will be along shortly to give you some tips based on how they themselves coped and how they were best able to support their loved one. In the meantime, I thought I would share this link with you which specifically aims to help family, friends and caregivers support someone with cancer but which also focuses on the importance of taking care of yourself when you are looking after a loved one with cancer.
