Found lump unsure what to do

I've found a lump in the outside of my breast, near armpit. I'm unsure what to do with doing some reading a smooth lump is likely to be benign and I don't want to cause a fuss. I'm 37 with no history of breast cancer so I guess I'm lower risk.
Should I leave it or go see a doctor? Any advice is great fully revived as I don't want to talk to anyone at home about this until I know what I need to do/ or not do.
thanks

  • Hi there ...

Your right, the odds are in your favour , even better then the average 8.5 out of ten normal ... but it's not impossible... every lump should be looked at ... don't worry if they send you on a 2 week refural ( depending on covid restrictions) as that's the normal ... they are over cautious now to be sure ..

No mater what .. the soonest seen soonest sorted... so get an appointment...

Fingers crossed all will be well ... let us know how it goes ... Chrissie x

    Hi ATS219,

I agree with Chriss. Even if only for your own peace of mind, phone your GP. You will probably get a telephone consultation initially, but you can and should be seen by your GP at their discretion. Your GP might also refer you straight to the breast clinic for investigation. We usually get an appointment within 2 weeks of referral and it can take 1-2 weeks to get the results of any tests taken.

Here's hoping that nothing untoward is found.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
    Kind regards,

  • Hi I'm in a similar boat to you except I'm slightly older at 40. Around ten days ago I found a lump,I've been referred to breast clinic on 11/11. I have no history of breast cancer in the family. A few years ago my nipple just changed shape and I had  tests...although it couldn't be explained I was absolutely fine,as I hope you will be too. Pleas just go and get yourself checked......and I hope everything goes well

  • Thanks so much everyone, having someone else telling me to go to doctor is what I needed to hear. Just don't have anyone I can run things by at home so appreciate u taking the time!
Manty - I hope u go ok too!!!
