Breast cancer scare

I am new to the group. Thank you for listening. I have a skin disorder that can cause infected lumps in arm pots and groin and more recently on the breast about a year ago. I have three lumps on my breasts that look like scars. I have been to the doctor and she has put me on antibiotics but they are not going away and I am on week 2 of the antibiotics. Just really scared. I have stretch marks and my breast looks a bit red so now I am also scared of IBC and have developed health anxiety.  Is anyone else going through or been through this?

  • Hello mandejw

I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with some health problems that have left you feeling so anxious. Do get back in touch with your GP and explain that the symptoms haven't improved and how concerned you are. I'm sure that they will be able to offer some reassurance and arrange any further appointments that may be appropriate.

I hope that things settle and improve soon.

    Best wishes,

    Hi Mandejw,

I am so sorry to hear about your anxiety. Most of us who have had a breast cancer diagnosis have been through this.

I agree with our moderator Jenn, go back to your GP and push for a referral to the breast clinic. Here they can carry out tests to rule out cancer for certain. This is the only way that you will get complete peace of mind.

The main reason for your fears is possibly fear of the unknown. Irrespective of the outcome, you will feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with. Only one person in every eight referred to the breast clinic will get a cancer diagnosis, so you are not wasting anyone's time. It is important that you can be confident that your GP is correct.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
