Blood in/after poo - I'm too embarrassed to discuss with GP

Okay so I had my boy over 10 months ago. I'd say around 6 months ago I started pooing with a tiny bit of blood, and I just didn't think anything else about it. I'd say around 3 weeks ago I've started to bleed once having a poo, with the toilet filled with blood and for 2 days noticed blood clots on the toilet paper.

Sometimes it can be painful to pass a poo.

I'm really embarrassed to ring my doctor and talk about this. Obviously it's a sensitive subject.

Any advice please?

Thanks in advance

  • Hello,

since you have posted on a cancer site,l assume you fear that this might be causing your issues. So you have to ask yourself if it was and you do nothing and allow it to potentially progress, does your embarressment outweigh your desire to see your child grow up ?.Did you have an immaculte birth or were doctors involved? Sorry this is blunt and to the point, but if it makes you realise that there are no answers to be found on this site, and you need to talk to your GP,it will be worth it.You have a precious life, and you have another precious life to look after, please do not put it at risk,

  • Never be embarrassed. They see alsorts and honestly anything caught earlier will save you so much distress later.

  • Hi. This sounds more like Piles/hemorrhoids that anything sinister. Piles cause bleeding after going to the toilet, Which is why you would see the toilet filled with blood or blood on the toilet roll. You would be more inclind to think this was cancer if the actual Poo itself contained blood (it would be a much darker colour) - You can google this and see what I mean. I would suggest to eat more fiberous foods and try not to worry about it. If you are super concerned a quick App with the Doc will have you sorted. They will give you some cream and some laxatives to sort you out. :)
