I am 48, suddenly experiencing heavy and long periods.

Dr has referred me for blood tests and pelvic scan.  Called me today to ask me to come in tomorrow for the results.  

Mum and a number of female relatives have died of breast cancer, dad died of prostate cancer.

I suffer from health anxiety at the best of times, and this has pushed me over the edge.  

Even being referred to a specialist for further investigation will send me into a tailspin.

I live in Australia at the moment (UK born etc) and know how lucky I am to have access to a system where the time between going to the GP with symptoms to getting the test results is 2 days.  

Guess I am looking for some guidance on what can and cannot be seen from a pelvic scan
