Had my biopsy yesterday. No pain today but they took 6 samples which seems a lot. Is this normal? Just don't know how to cope with the waiting. Can't eat or sleep and my appointment isn't for another 2 weeks

Welcome to Cancer Chat, cal48.
I'm sorry to hear that you're worried about what may come out of your biopsy results, as many of our members here would agree, the waiting game can be quite stressful.
In these two weeks, you have to wait to know the results, try to shift your mind to something else, if at all possible. I know it's easier said than done but sometimes keeping busy with other things may help.
If you find it impossible though and feel like chatting with someone medically trained may help ease your stress our nurses can be reached on on this phone number 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
I hope everything works out fine for you.
Once you know more, please come back and give us an update, we're keeping our fingers crossed for you.
Best wishes,

Hi Cal,
I am sorry to hear that you are at the horrible stage of waiting for your biopsy results. This is always an anxious time and traumatises us all.
The best way to cope with the wait is to keep yourself as busy as possible. This doesn't always have to be with work - there are leisure pursuits too.
Try to keep your thoughts in proportion. Only 1 person in every 8 referred to the clinic will get a cancer diagnosis, so the odds are still good for you. The taking of six biopsy samples is within normal paramaters. Some only have 2, but others need more to get a clear diagnosis. Remember that no amount of worry over the next two weeks will change anything.
I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years and am still living a full life. I sincerely hope that you get good news. Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.
Kind regards,
Jolamine xx
