Liquid biopsy testing

Hi all I am new to the forum and would like to hear from anyone who has had experience of liquid biopsy testing please. The USA seem to be the leaders in this but wondered if anyone in the UK has had access to this approach?

thank you

  • Hello Farmerjoe and welcome to the forum.

Hopefully some of our members who may have had experience of this type of testing will get back to you soon but if you'd like to have a chat with one of our cancer nurses about this then you can give them a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi Farmerjoe,

    thanks

  • Hi Dani

sorry for the delay in replying. yes we have had a liquid biopsy test. We used a company called Guardant360 which is the only one as far as I know that has FDA approval. It was a reasonably easy process  you simply get a blood test and then they send it off for testing i think it goes either to US or Spain and within 10 days you get a report back. You obviously need an oncologist to interpret the results so you may have to go through a private institution as we did, depends on the institution you are already linked to. The process tests for 74 markers and my husbands report showed changes in 24 of the 74. we are waiting for further discussion about what that means . But it did what we wanted it to do which is to provide proof in the absence of a tissue sample and whatever other mutations may have developed as the disease has progressed.

hope that helps let me know if I can help further with whta limited knowledge I have!
