Change of size in one breast

Hi

A couple of months ago I started back running and walking after been a bit m.i.a on it for a couple of years ... I started getting pains around my chest area up my neck down my arm . Went to the doc where they carried out all the heart checks and all was good ... around a month or so later I noticed my left breast (same side as the pains are on ) had grown a little it was always a little bigger than the right but was just a little bigger again ...not swollen not irritated or anything but sore ..not quiet sure is all the chest pain related to this ..went back to doc who referred me to breast clinic.... 2 doctors felt around and found nothing more than a fibroadenoma that I have had for the last  2 yrs ... the doc said she would sent me out a routine mammogram which I received 2 months later they called me back 2 weeks later for an ultrasound as they said a mass showed which was the fibroadenoma... she said the rest my breast looks good .... but im still in pain and still have that one boob bigger than the other look going on .... just wondering has anyone has similar symptoms ...also in my job im using my left side constantly so I feel I have repetitive strain going on ... my doc also thinks maybe costochondritis is going on there ..... Im worried the breast clinic didn't thoroughly check fully ....I should say im 41 also..

    Hi Kaz,

Welcome to our forum. I have always had one breast bigger than the other as, I believe many women have. I am sory to hear about your breast pain. Is this there continually, or does it coincide with a certain time of month?

It is not usual to have pain associated with breast cancer, although not impossible. Have you mentioned the possibility of RSI to your GP and, is there any way that you could change your work practices to combat this?

Any breast abnormalities should have been picked up on your mammogram or ultrasound and they do seem to have looked at the rest of your breast too. It is unlikely that anything has been missed. Why not have a chat with your GP about how you feel and, see if s/he considers that it might be worth referring you back to the breast clinic or investigating your RSI?

I hope that you find a solution to your problems that you can feel more reliant on. Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • The pain comes and goes sometimes I feel it in my nipple for a few seconds others it could be anywhere around the breast sometimes rhere is no pain ... I have always had that breast a little bigger but it has definitely gotten a small bit bigger again...the lady doing the ultra sound did say the tissue in  my breast was glandular but didn't elaborate I felt it was all rather rushed ..not sure if that is maybe making a diff to how my breast has changed or not . I booked myself in wit a private consultant for this week I feel she will have the time to talk a bit and maybe have an explanation so I can put it all to bed ...the over thinking would send you over the edge ....thanks for the reply by the way ...

    Hi Kaz,

Breast tissue tends to be glandular by nature of what it does. I agree that overthinking can lead to scary places. I am glad to hear that you have made another appointment and hope that this new consultant will be more helpful.

Please let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
