I had a colposopy a few weeks ago (just after Christmas) after finding out I had HPV and slightly abnormal cells.

If anyone wants to chat about it, please let me know. I'm happy to provide any information you need on my experience.

Hi Helen... I received a letter yesterday that I am HVP positive and have borderline changes. I have never heard of this. I am waiting appointment letter for Colonoscopy. 
 

I am so so scared. I have t even got anyone to talk to about this. 
 

how are you now and do you have any advice for me.

Hi Harj,

I have thankfully received a normal result since my latest smear test which was a year following my colposcopy.

My experience at the colposcopy was very painless, only a slight stinging as they insert some acidic liquid so the cells show on the screen. But nothing very painful at all! The appointment doesnt take long, and the nurses will explain everything to you beforehand. I read some horror stories online about the colposcopy but I can assure you it's nothing to worry about! Yea, just mild. The nurse assured me that this did not mean cancer. She said it's likely the immune system fights off the HPV within a year, so asked me to attend for a smear in a years time. Good luck, and let me know how you get on! There really is nothing to worry about x
