Waiting for diagnosis

My daughter is 18 and about 3 months ago she found a lump under her armpit. Alarm bells rang as both my husband and me have lymphoma in our families. Anyway, went to GP and now, after blood tests, ultrasounds and Xrays we are now waiting for the results. We were due to see the consultant on Wednesday afternoon but we have just received a message to say that they will give results over telephone. My gut feeling is that this must be a good sign but I know, in these covid times, they are trying to reduce visits to hospital. Has anyone received bad news over the phone or is it usually done face to face?

    Hi HellieWellie,

Welcome to our forum, although I'm sorry for the reason that has brought you here. I am so sorry to hear that your appointment on Wednesday has been cancelled and is to be a telephone consultation instead.

Most surgeons like to give both good and bad results face-to-face. However, this differs in various parts of the country and there are occasions where some bad news has been given over the phone. I sincerely hope that this doesn't happen to your daughter.

Please keep in touch and let us know the outcome. We are always here for you both.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
