Borderline Abnormal cells on smear

Hi All

I was diagnosed with HPV 16 strain around 5 months ago. SInce then i have had a smear which showed the HPV but was inadequate. I had a repeat one done and the results have come back saying i have borderline adnormal cells and they have invited me to have a colposcopy.

Does anybody know what borderline abnormal cells are. Can these be cancer, or is it pre cancerous?

Anything anybody knows would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much for your response. This has made me feel much better. I read my letter again and it actually said borderline changes. Rather than borderline abnormal cells. Do you know if these are the same thing? Xx
