Urgent referral for a colposcopy

Evening ladies,

I've also had an urgent referral for a colposcopy due to abnormal cells being found. HPV was detected at my smear a year ago and abnorm cells on this years check up :(

I'm so so worried! I'm only 28 and all I can think is that I wont have the chance to have children :( I know I shouldn't worry until I know more but similarly to most of you it's so hard not to!

This thread definitely does give reassurance though so thank you all for that :).

Welcome to our forum. You are absolutely right - you shouldn't worry until you find out more but I can understand that, like many ladies on our forum who are in a similar situation, it is really hard not to think about it. Don't assume though that this will affect your chance of having children: if you are concerned at all about this, do talk to your doctor about your fears and I am sure they will be able to reassure you and tell you more about it.

Hi - easier said than done but try not to worry too much. I also had this when I was your age and I went on with a further pregnancy and I'm still here to tell the tale 20 years later and haven't had a problematic smear test since!
