Exemestane

I had surgery to remove 2 small cancerous lumps in March 2020 advised against  radiotherapy due to the Covid pandemic so started on Tamoxifen, had numerous uti infections and urinary problems,so after authorisation from my Osteoporosis consultant was changed to Letrozole.Urinary infections settled down to a manageable level, although my doctor has referred me to a gynaecologist to get checked thoroughly,on Letrozole for 3months but the joint pains have been insufferably my appointment with my cancer surgeon was changed to a telephone consultation I explained about joint pain and pain in my right breast he authorised a ultrasound which showed a benign cyst which was drained and he advised me to stop the Letrozole with the view  to start on Exemestane but after reading these post am very worried that I will experience the same problems with my bones and joints. I am seriously thinking of just not taking any tablets and hope that with being checked with regular mammograms and having the back up to go to my breast cancer nurse that I will at least have a better quality of life....

  • Hi Lorraine

Thank you very much for your reply I do intend to try exemestane after the time lapse from Letrozole I know we all need to try as many treatments as are offered and as you say make the best decisions for our own bodies  as I have just been diagnosed this year and had surgery I know it's a long road to go it gives a lot of support knowing we can talk to someone going through same thing I am so pleased I came across this web page.

Hoping things go well for you and everyone ....
