new and waiting getting worried

Hi

I have had a lump on my right leg mid shin on inner part of leg. Its been there over a year now. I asumed it was a cyst, Xmas arrived still there so booked a gp appointment which is hard. It was cancelled when I asked to rebook they were fully booked until feb hadnt got any appointments. Then we all know virus arrived so it was left as I knew Gps were over whelmed. The lump was 1.9cm and seemed to stick at that, then it grew. So again I asked gp and after nagging as recptionist kept telling me its only phone calls I finally got through to gp. The Gp was great asked for photos and after seeing pics sent me for ultra scan. This told me  it was not a cyst but they didnt really explain more and said results would be with Gp. So I get the call from GP and they say it is still unsure as to what it is and referred me to a dermatologist. I saw him and he was quite quick I had written lots down and he didnt seem interested just said he wants to do a biopsy but waiting times are very long. I will get an appointment. I understand this all sounds very negative but I dont mean to be the drs have been great. They all keep telling me they dont think its anything to sinster but clearly are puzzled.

So this was 3weeks ago and still no appointment what I want to know is should I be ringing up and checking about this?

Also Ive looked and I think I found that waiting times can be 5months does this sound about right?

I have also wonder why they havent done an Xray.

I am just getting a bit nervous as lump is now 2.5cm its under my skin and hard but does seem to move. But it seems to be causing nerve issues. My foot is getting pins and needles and tingling and my joints hurt. Hip and knee and ankle. It feels like someone is squeezing my lower leg.

just after a bit of advise

thanks

  • Hello jnet,

As you are worried about the fact that you haven't heard anything about your appointment, I think it wouldn't do any harm to ring them up and to ask them whether they know what the timeframe might be, that you have found it might take 5 months.

I hope that you find out more very soon and that you won't have to wait too long to be seen and to get some clarity on this.

    Best wishes,
