Transvaginal ultra sounds results

Hi there,

I went for a transvaginal US and abdominal US on Wednesday due to abnormal bleeding, cramps, sever lower back ache, Quite a large amount of weigh loss (the usual) all of which began around the beginning of lock down. the radiographer didn't utter a word throughout then just asked me to get in touch with my GP for results (she wasn't the friendliest looking back at it!) anyway, the receptionist from my doctors called me today (a lot sooner than expected!) and said they've made me a routine appointment to dicuss my results on the 14th October, but wouldn't tell me my results over the phone. Now I'm not overly concerned as I'm assuming they wouldn't have me waiting nervously for two weeks for a ****** outcome, but also I'm just curious as to why they couldn't tell me over the phone if not? I've had receptionists in the past confirm results are ok.  Has anyone else had this before and if so what did they find? (If you don't mind me asking) there's a tiny bit of me that is a little anxious I suppose which I why I'm posting on here!

  • I think the fact that they have your results and they haven't got you in tomorrow sounds positive. I doubt they would do nothing for almost 3 weeks if they had found something bad. x

  • Hi,

when I had two ultrasounds - the same as you - the sonographer who did them shared her findings with me there and then - that there was a large mass attached to my ovary and that she would send the report to my GP and told me to contact my GP the next day. Are you in England? I have signed up to an NHS app with my doctors through which I can access and view all my medical records. When I spoke to the GP he explained he was doing an urgent gynaecology referral based on the findings from the sonographer and her advice to do an urgent referral. I know all areas and hospitals are different but I would take it as a good sign that this has not been classed as urgent. I know waiting is such a worrying time though so I hope you're ok x
