Hello Ladies,
I'm writing this exhausted after a horrible afternoon involving a scan and hysterescopy.
I'm 34 years old and have always had heavy/painful periods. My earlier cervical smears showed borderline changes and over the years these have fluctuated between normal and abnormal. I had some random bleeding in October 2018 and saw a consultant in March 2019 who found high risk HPV (not strain 16 or 18) and CN1 changes. I had a follow-up smear after six months and was HPV negative. Smears since then have been okay and I think I'm back at every three years.
In parallel, since last 18 months my periods have become more frequent (between every two and three weeks) and very heavy, involving alot of clotting. I've bled through clothes on several occasions and have to wear two extra thick pads. I went to a GP with this late last year and has a scan which came back okay. I saw an NHS consultant in February/March this year I was referred for a hysteroscopy. Due to the Covid-crisis, I was not able to get an appointment. This year, I've been bleeding between my periods (spotting) and having lower abdominal pain.
I phoned my GP as it's been six months since I was referred and noted my symptoms were worsening. I was finally sent this week for another scan and hysteroscopy which I had today. The scan revealed an ovarian cyst and the hysteroscopy, which was agonisingly painful even with paracetemol, reveal many uterine polyps. The nurse took a biopsy and I've had blood tests for the cyst. I had a funny turn afterwards, my blood pressure dropped and I was sweaty, faint and sick.
It's been an exhausting day. Obviously, my mind is going to the worst possible scenario and I'm worried, anxious and scared. Has anyone else been through this recently?
