Rcc age 14

Hi my name is Donna. My daughter age 14 was diagnosed with hybrid renal oncocytic and chromophobe renal tumour in Jan 2020. She has this removed along with her kidney  in Feb and scans been clear in July. This is rare in kids since Aug she's been having knee pain had xray and clear last few weeks spine pain on and off then thurs just gone a painless lump appeared on her shin. I'm so worried about everything right now and what her future holds.

Does anyone have any experience in this.

I must add Jan 2019 she has a pilomatrixoma in her right arm which was benign and removed

  • Hi there ...

So sorry you've not had a reply ... and I've no experience of that cancer, but do know what it's like having one so young with cancer ... and my heart goes out to you .. I hope you have other support from family and someone to talk to along the way ... my granddaughter had acute myeloid leukaemia.... and we were lucky we had a really close family ...

So I hope someone comes along soon , with same ... but know your not alone ... all I can say is try to live in the day ... as it's hard looking ahead sometimes .... fingers crossed for you both ...

Sending positive vibes and a vertual hug.... Chrissie x

  • Hi

Thanks for your reply I am lucky enough to have  an amazing close family and have lots of support. I want answers on things but I know you can't predict what will happen in the future.

How old is your granddaughter? and how is she now?

    Donna x

    Hi Loveridge,

I am sure that Chrissie will be back soon to reply to you.

Sadly, she has just lost her precious eighteen year old granddaughter, who fought so valiantly throughout. I thought that I would reply to you to take some pressure off her, at what is an incredibly difficult time for her.

Like Chrissie, I don't have any experience of hybrid renal oncocytic and chromophobe renal tumour, but I really feel for you going through all of this trauma with someone so young. How is your daughter managing since her surgery? I know that every little ache and pain signals alarm bells, but don’t be afraid to ask her cancer nurse about these. Is your daughter having any further treatment post-surgery? Please keep in touch and remember that we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I am so sorry my thoughts are with her and the family at this sad time x
