Hello

Hi, I am new here, and really just wanted to chat to someone. My brother has just been diagnosed with liver and bowel cancer and basically as a few weeks left. It has come as a shock, he is still in hospital at the moment and I am unable to see him, due to covid. It is tearing me apart. I managed to speak to him yesterday and fair play to him, he was being so positive.

It is just too hard, am I being selfish just wanting to see him. And wondering if I will ever get the chance to again. Thank you so much for reading this. I appreciate it xx

  • Hello DotingDonna,

You are definitely not selfish at all in wanting to see your brother. This is a time when you would want to be close to him and yet the current situation means we have to keep our distance from our loved ones. It's just unprecedented and so so hard. I am glad though that you have managed to speak to him yesterday and that he was in good spirits. I hope you can have more chats like this with him and thanks to modern technology, perhaps you can even organize if you haven't done so already a video call so that you can see him while you are talking to him.

I am thinking of you and so many people at the moment who are finding themselves in your situation.

My heart goes out to you all who are currently unable to be with your loved ones when they are in their final weeks or days. I am thinking for example of our wonderful  [@Chriss]‍ who will completely understand what you are going through at the moment having been herself unable to see a loved one in hospital due to covid.

We're thinking of you and your brother during this difficult time.

    Best wishes,
