Terrified after lumps found

Hi

I had been having some problems with my bowels, over the last couple of months there had been blood and mucus. In the last few weeks I hd started having pains in my lower back and abdomen spreading into my legs, I had been in touch with my GP and provided a feacal sample and blood tests.

I had a call on Wed this week and an appointment made as calprotectin levels were extremely high, at my appointment the Dr was telling me that thry were confident it was Inflammatory Bowel Disease but wanted to perform a rectal exam.  During the exam they discovered some lumps and have fast tracked me for a biopsy, I have an appointment on 30th Sept but I am going out of my mind worrying and don't want to be using Dr Google

  • Hi Jamoo,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can imagine this must be an unsettling and worrying time. You've done all the right things by getting this checked out and it's good to hear you have an appointment booked - hopefully you will have the answers you need before too long.

As you say, try to avoid using Google as it's not going to be helpful, and can often increase worry by providing irrelevant information.

Some people say it helps to keep busy and distracted if you can, to keep your mind off things while you wait for the appointment.

I hope it doesn't feel like too long to wait and that you can find out more as soon as possible.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
