Waiting for a lung cancer diagnosis

Hi Everyone,

Ever since this nasty Covid-19 has been about, I seem to have had issues with my chest.  After a dry cough and then a wet cough in March, I started getting some light pain in my chest. One day, a little while after this, after returning from a run, I got a nasty pain in my chest so I decided to contact my GP. She said that, from my symptoms, it sounded like I had had a mild case of Covid-19 and that she had had quite a few people complaining of long lasting chest pains. She said to go back to her in two weeks time if symptoms persisted. Around a week later (May time), I had some blood in my sputum so I went back to her. She sent me for an X-ray and gave me some antibiotics. The X-ray was clear and I felt better.

A few weeks later, I began getting some mild chest pain again amongst some other other symptoms.  A little after that I had some more blood in my sputum, so again contacted my GP.  She suggested that I have a sputum sample test. This also came back clear and again my symptoms seemed to improve and had no more blood in my sputum.

Around a week ago, I had little more blood in my sputum, so again I contacted my GP.  This time I have been referred to the hospital and I am today having a CT scan. I have had another X-ray and my bloods taken.  My bloods were all fine.  I have a consultant appointment next Tuesday.

I'm generally fit and well and I run quite a lot.  I don't drink either.  I am an ex smoker, but gave up around 17 years ago after smoking on and off for around 12 years (never very heavy).  I haven't really been out of breath, but I have had a strange sensation with diaphragm.  This whole waiting thing is absolutely terrifying and has made feel massively anxious, but I am obviously hoping for a good diagnosis.

I just felt I wanted to say something as everyone seems very supportive on here.

Thanks for reading (if you managed to make it to the end!)
