Waiting for a Gynae appointment...

Hi.

I'm unsure if I should post this here but I'm getting increasingly worried and believe that I may have cervical cancer. I'm 29 and have been trying to get a regular pap test since I had my kid at 21 but was told that I would get one at 25 and that never happened and well of course stupdly I left it and didn't and still haven't had one, even though I have gone to A&E multiple times since then.

I have severe bleeding that I know for sure is not my period as I do not have ovaries or tubes due to 2 ectopic pregnancies, for months off and on. the bleeding and pain started to get increasingly worse and every time I do have the bleeding I get extreme pain in my right leg. I have done research and everything is pointing to cervical cancer so I had gone to another doctor who was giving me medication to stop the bleeding without knowing where or why the bleeding was happening.

I was referred to Gynae and 2 weeks later I get a letter from the hospital saying I'm on the waiting list and that it could take around 36 weeks I believe. I will have to recheck the weeks again. I have a lot of pain in pelvis, leg and lower right abdomen, constantly tired and low on energy, noticed my blood pressure has been lower than normal which has never happened, as my blood pressure is always normal when checked, could be as a result of the bleeding I guess.

I don't know what to do and honestly don't think I can wait that long for an appointment. Would be grateful for any advice that could be given and apologies for this being so long.

Thank you.

L.

  • Hello Lisamar

I'm sorry to hear that you've been dealing with some on going health problems. It's understandable that you're feeling concerned about things.

Have you spoken to your GP to let them know how long you've been advised your appointment will be? It may be that they are able to contact the hospital to see if the appointment can be expedited or that they can advise you on possibly being seen at another hospital.

I do hope that you have some reassurance and things improve soon.

    Best wishes,
