Colonoscopy

Hello I have had intermittent diarrhoea for a few weeks, I thought it was because I was upset because my mum died but now I have seen blood in it now and also very long thin poo with blood in. I have been referred for an urgent colonoscopy. I have a child and I am so worried. I lost my sister a few years ago to cancer - not this type. I know what it does to everyone and I don't want to worry my son. I don't want to tell anyone but I feel so alone. I am 52. I am scared and I miss my mum but I am glad she doesn't know about this because I have a bad feeling.

  • Hi Maltesers,

I'm sorry to read about your worries although I can of course understand this must be unsettling. It's good to hear you've got this checked out and that you have a referral - I hope it's not too long to wait for this and to get the results.

It can be a very worrying time with all this uncertainty. Try to talk to others around you if you can - whether this is friends or family. Please also know we are here on this forum for support anytime you need it - it's a very welcoming and understanding community. It can often even be helpful simply to write things down.

Wishing you all the best and I hope you find out more soon,

    Ben
