Microcalcifications

Hello, I'm new here... think I posted in the wrong bit so will out here instead...

I'm 46 years old and had a mammogram last year which raised a query on numerous clusters of "suspicious" microcalcifications. They called me back and looked closer and said they thought they were OK. Jump to March this year, huge lump the size of a golf ball, right upper and outer area of breast. There was a cyst which they drained but said they were concerned about the tissue surrounding and the microcalcifications within it. Numerous biopsies done over several months of appointments, no cancer cells found. Put on 3 month watch and wait. Due back 11th September. Now have a very lumpy armpit and the lump feels more like muscle in my breast. All non painful. Just wanted opinions. I'm trying to keep my mind calm but I was told I had benign proliferative breast disease in my 20s and a number of benign lumps removed. Feel quite alone and this 3 month wait seems to be taking forever! Might be because life isn't completely normal anyway and less distractions! Thank you for reading and would be grateful if anyone could share their experiences X

  • Hi Alex1974,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope you're getting on OK - it's never easy while waiting for appointments especially if there are any changes you may be worried about. As you say, the current situation with everything does make things a bit more difficult too.

It sounds as if they're keeping a close eye on things and it's good to hear you have an appointment coming up to get it checked again. While I can't advise on this specifically, perhaps try to avoid thinking about it too much if you can - keep busy, keep doings things you enjoy and carrying on as normally as possible.

This forum is always a safe space to write down any thoughts or worries, so I hope you find it useful. If anyone here has similar experiences to share, then hopefully they'll be along soon.

Wishing you all the best and I hope the appointment comes around soon for you,

    Ben
