waiting for appointment with breast clinic

hello all

I have been taking HRT for 7 years. I am a 54 year old woman. I had an online routine appointment with my menopause nurse who reminded me to check my breasts. As I have had swollen breasts on and off with the hrt prescription. As a result I checked them on Sunday and was shocked to see that my left nipple was inverted and felt hard around the nipple area. Added to that the nipple area appeared yellow/greenish in colour. I have been to a lovely GP who referred me for the 2 week turnaround appointment. I am so worried and annoyed at myself for not picking up on this sooner plus wishing I had never taken the risk of HRT. Any frightened of what is going to happen. Sending best wishes to all in similar positions. Ella

  • Hello Ella66

I'm sorry to hear that you've been referred to breat clinic following the changes that you noticed. I think many of our members here will understand who worrying this period of waiting can be. The unknown can be a very scary thing.

Please try not to chide yourself for taking the HRT. None of us have a crystal ball and I'm sure that lots of members will have spent time wishing that they had or hadn't done something prior to a diagnosis. I'm sure that you made the decision to take HRT based on what you thought was best at the time.

The important thing now is that you've noticed the change, been to your GP and you're in the system now ready for your appointment.
You might find it helpful to have a chat with one of our nurses before your appointment. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040 and I'm sure they will be able to give you some advice and support.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
