Worried

Hi All,

Ive been reading some of the posts on here and can completely relate to some of your situations.

Over the last few months I've been experiencing increased bloating with my middle looking incredibly broader shall we say. I've previously had bloating and tummy troubles for which I have both abdo and transvaginal ultrasound for. That was around 5-6 years ago and nothing found.

These past few weeks I've been having severe bloating, change in bowel habits, back pain, lower abdo pain, severe sweats and more recently some spotting. To add extra context I took the morning after pill 13/06/2020 but have not had a period since 09/06/2020. I've done countless home pregnancy tests and had bloods for hcg, menopause markers and thyroid but nothing. I'm now cycle day 60 when I'm usually clockwork 26-27 days.

Anyway I was referred for another abdo and TV ultrasound which I had this morning. At scans before the Sonographer has usually commented on what they could see (regarding normal anatomy 'Oh I think your ovary is hiding') but today was a very minimal affair in regards to feedback. I asked if she could see anything however her reply was 'We're not in a position to say', then I was advised to get dressed and was shown the way out. There was some whispering between the Sonographer and her colleague (HCA, chaperone?) when I was getting dressed but I was none the wiser. I was advised the results will go to my GP and I should hear early next week. I'm a healthcare professional so know the limits and ethical considerations of what Sonographers can and can't say. However it just felt like something had been found and it has worried me.

Fast forward to this afternoon and already by 3.30pm my GP practice had the ultrasound scan and report. The receptionist rang to say the GP wanted to speak to me early next week. I have a phone consult on Monday afternoon. The receptionist herself was surprised at how speedy the ultrasound had come back for review but she told me 'I'm sure the doctor would have called you immediately themselves if they were really concerned'.

I know something isn't right, the bloating and abdo and back pain really concerns me, especially considering symptoms of OC. My CA125 was normal last year however I know it can be normal even with a cancer diagnosis. I've been told 'Covid seems to have impacted a lot of ladies' cycles, there's anacdotal evidence' however I'm sick of being told that. I just don't feel right.

Been feeling terrified about what answer is waiting for me on Monday.

Anyone been in the same boat?

    Hi Mrs B,

Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your symptoms, but glad to hear that you have had your ultrasound. Your anxiety whilst waiting for the results is something which we can all empathise with.

You are fortunate to be getting your results so quickly. Please don't think that it is likely to be bad news just because this is so speedy. This bears no indication of whether the news will be good or bad.

Most of us have to wait for at least 1-2 weeks for test results and, sometimes even longer.

Try to keep yourself busy over the weekend to distract yourself from the wait.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolaine xx
