Hi, there is no fear greater than the unknown, and until you have a diagnosis you will be scared and think the worst. Unfortunately it could be some time yet before you have firm answers, sometimes the consultants will give their best guess as to if it's serious or not but often the first appointment just lists the possible outcomes. I would suggest try to resist the second guessing and googling as you will just scare yourself to death and it may be nothing to worry about. 
keep very busy, pack your days with friends and activity you find distracting. 
There is no one way to cope and I'm afraid there is no short cut, it may be worth ringing the consultant secretary and saying you are willing to attent at very short notice if they have any cancellations, I did this and ended up having my surgery two weeks early as got Phone call saying can you be here in an hour. At the moment they have more cancelled spots S people who get a temp can't attend hosp so worth a try.
