Hello,
As with a lot many more people who might have had the scare of their lives, I have visited this website and multiple pages multiple times in the last month or so.
Like with many others, I also found a lump in my neck. Just behind the jawline, under neath the ear.
Again, like many the one thing that came to mind was cancer, lymphoma to be precise(what was the difference, what did i know anyway, eh?)
Asked the GP, got an appointment with a nurse instead(COVID times I assumed), and she got the scare of her life with the 'size' of the swelling. I wasn't even that concerned by then but may be according to her it was big. Rushed in the doctor, he said the same about the size and sent me away with 2 weeks worth of flucloxacillin and a request for an US and some blood tests.
Fair enough, I told myself, cometh the day of US and the radiology department were in some shock too. "What we see shouldn't be there, Mr.Singh; they said". I asked what could it be? "Ah, well we'll have to write to your GP, you shall hear from them, soon enough"
And my world revolved a bit too fast for my liking that minute, that hour, and that day. Till of course my GP calls me in the eve.
"Mr Singh, we reckon it's something more sinister than a lymph node" Then I'm asked"I sense soemthing's wrong, do you think it's Cancer" and I'm like? I've no idea, please tell me it isn't!
"We'll advise another ENT session for you might take 2 weeks"
Luckily I had medical insurance from work, this been Friday evening nothing much could be achieved.
Comes Monday I'm given a few options, I book an appoiintment with a consultant at the BMI Hospital.
He checks all the ear canal, my throat fro any/everything. Sends me an for an X-Ray of the chest(Odd i know) and sorts me out with a biopsy.
A week later, my biopsy comes out negative nd he tells me I may have a case of TB as I am of an Indian origin and did visit their last year.
I apologise for the long line of events, and the motto of me being a bit too verbose is to may be, just may be, give someone that ray of hope about NOT relying solely on google or many webforums.
Each one's body's different and there's absolutely no help with people deriving thier own conclusions from reading someone's elses issues.
Please be bold, upfront and prompt as and when you notice ANY thing out of ordinary.
Sooner the doctor sees it, sooner anything can be availed.
I hope you all have a healthy and safe life ahead; COVID or not, Cancer or not.
