Breast cyst

I found a lump a week ago and went to the breast clinic, I had mammogram and ultra sound. The ultrasound man said I had cluster of cysts and there was nothing untoward and when I saw the consultant she did a needle aspiration in which no fluid was drawn and a tiny tiny amount of something was put on a slide for testing. Last year I was found to have 2 large cysts and they drained them and they went down.

consultant said I would be discussed in a panel meeting next week, and results would be back in a week or two.

has anyone else had the same, what was the outcome. If the ultra sound is saying a cyst what are the checking for now? Sorry if I sound stupid, just things going through my mind and feel silly for worrying as they said it should be ok.

  • Hi Holly and welcome to our forum chat.

I'm sure many of our members who have been in a similar situation will tell you that these are common thoughts and questions to have after having tests so hopefully some of them will pop by soon to tell you more about their experiences and offer their thoughts and advice.

In the meantime I hope this information I've found will help steady your nerves whilst you wait and fingers crossed the results bring good news when the time comes.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Holly,

Welcome to our forum. The tests that you describe all sound perfectly normal. It sounds as if your consultant just wants to make sure that there is nothing untoward with your cysts. It is normal for the results to be discussed at the consultant's weekly MDT (multidisciplinary team) meeting, before you get the results yourself. Sometimes they drain cysts, sometimes they do nothing and sometimes they decide to remove them.

By the time you see the consultant, she will have decided what is the best thing to do with you. It sounds as if you should be fortunate and, I'm sincerely hoping that this will be the case. Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thank you for responding ️ I will update when I hear from the hospital

  • Thank you, I am an extremely positive person and I generally deal with things as they happen, I suppose it's because I have to be patient and wait. I have read the article about keeping busy and it is helpful I have been helping my son this weekend move into his flat, i spent the day yesterday redesigning and changing his old bedroom for my youngest son who's 12. I have also planned to visit my daughter and grandson after work today, so lots to take my mind off the waiting.

I will give an update as soon as I hear from the hospital, again thank you for responding ️
