I had the exact same thing. 
 

Mine lasted months, I was also convinced it was something worse. I then developed stress which brought on more symptoms which I thought was related to cancer.

Mine went away after I started to relax and I found soaking the back of my neck in a hot bath also helped. 
 

The doctor would spot any signs of a brain tumour and would refer you asap.
