Reoccurrence?

Hi I was diagnosed 6 yrs ago with a grade 2 ductal carcinoma, had a lumpectomy and radiotherapy and tamoxifen for a couple of years. I am very careful about checking my breasts now. I was discharged12 months ago, the last mammogram being clear. In the last month I've noticed an indentation on the medial aspect of the areola and my nipple itself is flaky and dry, skin is peeling. Just thought I'd keep an eye on it for a few weeks however now I can feel a lump which is deeper  and left of the indentation appears swollen.
I'm going to go back to Gp to discuss but they are only offering telephone consultations due to covid.

im worried this is a reoccurrence and can't stop thinking about it.... should I be worried or is this just anxiety over nothing?

    Hi Jax,

Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your current breast concerns.I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 11 years. I was diagnosed with a new primary in the same breast a year after my first surgery.

Please go to your GP as soon as you can and get this checked out. I know that many doctors are giving telephone consultations, but they can see you in person if they deem it necessary. Some are referring patients to a breast clinic without examining them.

You are naturally worried. I was too, but the only way to be certain is to get tested again. I sincerely hope that there is nothing untoward, but you are better to err on the safe side.

Do please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Thankyou for replying, I'm phoning GP surgery at 0800 this morning to request an urgent appointment so fingers crossed they will either see me today or just refer me x

  • So I'm getting referred to the breast clinic, the Gp agreed I have a lump and indentation and said I'll probs have a few tests, biopsy etc so here we go again lol, 2020 really is turning out to be a *** year
