Anastrozole effects

Hello I have just joined this site as I have had breast cancer twice, fist when I was 29 and then forty. The first time I had a lumpectomy and all right side lymph nodes removed, chemo and radiotherapy and tamoxifen for ten years. The second time right mastectomy, chemo and commenced with tamoxifen a preventative left mastectomy and now I am having gosrelin injections monthly and in the last couple of weeks swapped from tamoxifen to anastrozole. I seem to be having a lot of side effects from anastrozole, constant head ache, eyes hurt and blurry, usual evening hot flashes, legs ache intermitent chest ache, hands ache, sore throat on and off, jaw ache, generally feel peculiar, moody, tired and disturbed sleep, just wonder if anyone can relate as I am paranoid it could be coronavirus or something else any advice welcome thank you x

    Mine is the opposite to yours, I found tamoxifen unbearable and was moved to anastrozole. I have been on the latter for 8 months now and all the side effects I had with tamoxifen disapeared except for hot flushes but my GP prescribed Sertraline and that stopped the flushes, now I have painful hands when I wake up but they ease after 10 mins so I'm happy with the drug. Perhpas you could swap to Letrozole and see if that's a better match for you.

    Hello magpiemaggie thanks for replying strange how everyone is affected differently, glad you are feeling better I think I will have to speak to my gp and consultant and just had a bad day generally x

    I has a lumpectomy and lymph nodes removal in December 2019 and 15 sessions of radiation in March 2020. I was 60vat the time so had already gone through menapause and related symptoms. I also suffer from osteo arthritis for the last 30 years managed by taking Naproxin.
    I too was prescribed Anastrozole and since taking, my arthritis has got severe where hand joints are so painful that even holding a knife is unbearable, severe hot flashes which I didn't suffer from even whilst going through menapause !

    moid change, disturbed sleep so I too am wondering if it's the Anastrozole?  I don't know if it's worth talking to GP ?

    Thank you sorry your in pain. After reading about side effects today and how I have been feeling I think anastrozole is definitely causing some if not all of my symptoms,I think you are right I am going to ring my gp and or consultant hopefully things will improve anyway and for you x
