No Information

Hi, I recently had my first colonoscopy, doc removed polyps and biopsies during it. It was not the most comfortable experience, but manageable, it was more painful having several aborted attempts at inserting canula!

Anyway, awake and watched whole thing, so fully aware of polyp and biopsies being done.

Dismissed from clinic, no information given by discharge nurse (also no tea etc.) so left with only a passing comment from doc stating that "results should be fine and will be posted to you and GP"

I have noted that a letter has indeed been sent to GP, no mention of polps or biopsies, just suggestions for endoscopy and iron tablets as severely anemic.

I have also now received an appointment from clinic asking that i go back in (earliest available appointment 4/8) and a call last night from GP to start endoscopy referral.

I am worried about the clinic appointment as family who have regular screening have never been called back, and i have not been told what the appointment is for.

Is this normal?

  • Hello Maverick77,

Welcome to our forum! I think it would be a good idea given your situation to ring the GP and ask for more information on this, whether they know why you have been referred for an endoscopy, that you have received no information as to what this appointment is for. They will be in the best position to enlighten you further on this.

Best of luck for your appointment. I hope it all goes well!

    Best wishes,
