Waiting biopsy results .....so stressed

I had a small rash on the bridge of my nose. I went to see the doctor about something else and asked her about the rash. I really was not concerned. As sometimes it would completely disappear. I wear glasses and I thought it was being caused by my glasses rubing on the bridge of my nose when I got hot. However the doc sent me to a dermatologist. She decided to take a biopsy right there and then. Does this mean it's bad? I am fair and have used sunbeds in my 20's. So scared. Will the results come via the post ? Will the results if good or bad be stated in the letter? Or if requested to see GP does that mean it's bad news. I have looked on Google at a the pictures and I cannot find any rashes that relate to cancer. I'm very tearful , stressed, finding it hard to cope . Any advice would be great

    Hi Takecare,

Welcome to our forum. Please don't be worried about the speed with which this is all happening. This is perfectly normal. It is usual to get a biopsy when a dermatologist has the slightest suspicion that there could be something untoward present, but this is done as much to rule out cancer as it is to diagnose it.

Protocols are a little different to the normal due to the current pandemic. Most doctors like to give any test results face-to-face, but some are giving them via phone at present.

Try to stay away from Dr Google, as much of this information is incorrect, poorly researched, out of date and aimed at the spectacular cases. Because of our propensity for thinking the worst whilst waiting for results, we tend to make ourselves even more anxious, for no particular gain.

The way you are feeling is how most of us feel, when faced with the unknown. If it's of any consequence to you, you will feel better about this once you know what lies ahead, irrespective of whether your news is bad or good.

Keep yourself as busy as you can whilst waiting. This doesn't have to be all work. Make some time for pleasurable pursuits too. This helps to pass the time.

I am hoping and praying that you get good results.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
