Areola change on one breast

Hi,

 

I have been referred to a breast clinic but I would feally like some advice in the meantime.

For 2 months I have noticed changes in my right areola on just one breast.

The first change I noticed was how purple it was and much larger than the left areola. I assumed it was nothing and would return to normal. I waited until my period as maybe it was hormone related. I have now had 2 periods since and the symptoms are still showing.

The right areola is larger in diameter and puffy and sticks out more and is also more purple than the left areola. You can see the changes the most when in it's most natural state (not erect).

There is no scaly or itchy patches, just the swelling, colour and size change and myself and the doctor did not feel any lumps.

I just wonder what it can be?

    Hi GemEd,

    Welcome to our forum. I am so sorry to hear about your breast symptoms, but I’m glad to hear that you have already been referred to the breast clinic. You will normally be seen here within 2 weeks from referral, so you shouldn’t have that much longer to wait.

    Unfortunately, most of us on this site are merely cancer patients and not doctors, so we cannot tell you what this might be. The only way to be sure is to have some simple tests run at the clinic. It will then take 1-2 weeks to get the result of these tests. This will tell you whether or not there is any cancer present and, if so, what type and grade it is.

    I am glad to hear that neither you nor your GP have found any lumps and I sincerely hope that nothing untoward is found.

    i have something the same

     

    pink/red colour whereas other is slightly Paler 

    snd there seems to be more color 

     

    keep on looking and worrying

    How did you get on with this? I've noticed pain in my right breast and change in the size of my right areola and have been referred to breast clinic.

    Ave you had any update on your symptoms? Ive been having pain for 6 weeks now, my left areloa is a different shape to my left and the colour has changed gotten more darker over the past few weeks. I've also got a lump in my left breast that my doctor was able to feel, she did say it could just be a cyst. However, my mum had BC at 32 and I'm 27 so I'm a little more worried. Never had pain like it, don't have any rash but my breast is itchy. 

     

    My doctor has said if it is still there in two weeks to go back.

    Hi Maria, not sure if you're on the site anymore but wondered what happened at the breast clinic. I have one areola that is suddenly much bigger than the other and has stayed like it for the last few months. My breast has also grown in size compared to my left.
